This December Mexico Event Design had the enormous privilege and honor to help organize and decorate the first annual “Red Ribbon Gala” to benefit SETAC, Puerto Vallarta’s Community Center for HIV/AIDS awareness, counseling, and testing. The event was held on December 7 at Casa Karma, an impressive boutique hotel on Vallarta’s Conchas Chinas beach.
Along with SETAC’s founder, Ed Thomas, and director, Francisco (Paco) Arjona, we worked with Yanina Haddad of LOve Producciones PV, Rogelio Bausan, professional florist, and Roger Allen, owner of Bar Anónimo in Puerto Vallarta. Special thanks also to Enrique Piñón, our electrician, who strung many strings of lights to help illuminate the large venue.
We took on this event not only to help make a big impact in the local community, but also to help become better known in this community during our first year of operations here not just for LGBT destination weddings, but all types of events for the local community. We couldn’t think of a better cause for those efforts than SETAC, which is now the first location in Mexico to receive a United Nations grant to bring PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) to the local community. This fund-raising event was designed to pay for the doctor meant to run this new program.
We plan to again help organize and decorate next year’s event, to be held on December 1, 2018, World AIDS Day.
